VOID

8 September 2014
From the vivid sky, golden leaves fall ornamenting mother earth, the sparrows are singing a melancholy; the wind blows as her hair locks embellish her face by playing with each other carelessly. After 4 years of hectic college life, I figured out that I was never born for engineering. So here I am, sitting in a corner, unable to blink, for her eyes are enchanting a gory verse, which curses the venom augmenting in her veins.
I lie startled at the amount of anguish incarnated in front of me, that peeps through these enthralling eyes.
Perhaps, I got a topic for my next article.
The Void
21 December 2016
Another corpse is dismissed out of the Red Cross Hospital, Mumbai.
The nurses murmur, the crowd screams amidst many cameramen, journalists, and magazine columnists.
"Breaking News: Suraiya Bano, the celebrated classical dancer died due to blood cancer at the age of 40.
Her daughter Shazia who is also a renowned dancer did not even care to see her. She is missing from past two weeks and has stopped signing any contracts from 6 months. Our trusted sources have found that they were suffering from a lot of debts and Shazia has already lost all her money in her mother's illness.
Now the question arises where is Shazia?"
"Relentless grief and incessant mourning overwhelm him in sorrow. Even the slightest instance of solitude douses him into the endless ocean of her eyes. Her resonant screams suffocated him and his eternal thirst made him hollow in the emptiness. He has become a slave with no master. Once a saint, he adored the inexplicable elegance peeking through her eyes, she resembled some divine goddess to him. Now that she has left, he is trapped in some static space where nobody can enter except her. He has hardly spoken anything in our asylum from two years. On our first encounter I had great hopes for his improvement, but gradually, situations worsened severely. After knowing his past now, I suppose he is dead", the psychiatrist exclaimed.
It's a grim room, everything is obscure here, the air is filled entirely with smoke from five days. Suddenly, a chuckle echoes from a rocking chair where she lights her last joint. Her face is pale, she lies languid, but her eyes, they are tranquil as they shut, forever.
21 December 1994
"She has got your eyes!" the doctor exclaims. Suraiya embraces her daughter, delighted when she twinkles at her. Suraiya silently pledges before her offspring that she will remain her only parent.
After suffering from marital rape for nine months, her divorce was quite a hot topic in most of the TV shows, for she was the daughter of an emperor, however penniless remained his empire. Her ruthless past built Suraiya resilient and the immense flood of responsibilities made her resentful. Suraiya could see dance as her ultimate rescue that indeed provided her some financial aid.

After 14 years
That night she spent staring at the moon, it was her first day to the dance academy, lying on the sofa next to the window in her room, she reminisced the series of events from the morning. She didn't cry because the hurt didn't hurt her, as much as the remorseless void that rendered itself like a parasite inside her.
Just at the age of 10, she was aware of every nuance of her mother's past and always saw herself as a curse. It is seldom that somebody's presence by her side ever comforts Shazia. She hardly knows anyone other than her career oriented mother, some maids and tutors.
Everything that happened to Shazia, it opened the doors to a new life, without any possible embarrassments or regrets.
Eventually, the dance academy becomes more than a place to learn dance. It is a moment. A moment that kills her brutally. Ironically, the desire for dying again and again augmented with her.
Every time he saw her tender hands floating in the air, her innocent eyes, he got incited to commit any crime.
He has become a soulless prisoner and she now saw herself as his graveyard, both of them mere vacant flesh, no thoughts.
The moon lurked behind the clouds, with a prudent facade she argued with her mother, that she won't go to the dance academy anymore. After a long concussion ultimately Suraiya reveals about her blood cancer and the debts, tears rolling from her eyes. This holocaust for money turns out to be more barbaric when your life was resplendent apparently.
Shazia gets ready for her extra class .
21 January 2014
For 5 years, Shazia endured life by dancing in the vicious circle of love; but now when her mother, who pushed her, though unintentionally, into this bottomless pit, is on the verge of dying, the wilderness inside her screamed through the darkness to die.
For him, even her presence was a guarantee of satisfaction, all he wanted to see were her eyes, just wanted very much to see them.
